My Yorkshire terrier Nala is obsessed with empty water bottles, she acts like water bottles are the best toys in the world! I think this is because she is fascinated with the fun crinkle sound they make when she bites down. The great thing about water bottles is that they are readily available, inexpensive, and easy to replace, and no trips to the pet store required! I could put a water bottle next to a $10 dog toy, and Nala would rather play with the bottle! So to make this activity safe for her and to make the water bottle appear appealing, I put the water bottle inside of a knotted sock and voila! Now you have your very own DIY dog toy.
Needed Items:
-One sock (preferably a long sock)
-A pair of scissors
-One water bottle
In the picture shown above I have two socks and two water bottles to demonstrate multiple ways you can knot the sock.
Instructions:
- Put the water bottle inside of the sock (This step is optional, but you can remove all label off the water bottle and remove the cap.)
- Tie the sock into a knot on one end or you can tie the sock into a knot on two ends.
- Take your scissors and fray the end of the sock for a playful look.
